NC Elopement Inspiration

Oftentimes, people think of eloping as just you, your spouse, and the officiant. Sometimes, people even consider it selfish. NC Elopements, however, can be whatever you want them to be — it’s your day, your story, your person. With 20 or 2 people, you choose how best to celebrate your love.

One of the most beautiful tings about North Carolina is the wide range of possibility when it comes to elopements. In NC, the landscape is your oyster — full of mountains, rivers, lakes, beautiful venues, and yes, even campsites. I’m a little partial to the western side of the state of NC, and here are a few of my favorite types of elopements to photograph. Your day is fully, 100% yours, and it really can reflect your love, story, and commitment in the most genuine way possible.

1. Sunrise Blue Ridge Parkway Elopement:

One of the reasons why I love this NC elopement so much is because it truly represents a symbiotic relationship between couple and elopement photographer. When Marshall and Emma first came to me with this idea and how special this specific spot was to them, I was able to offer insight to them since I’ve photographed so many sessions here. The sunset? eh. BUT. Sunrise?? Epic for your NC elopement.

2. Air BNB Elopement

For Amanda and Bo, they initially considered a larger wedding. As they began planning, they realized that a larger wedding didn’t really best feel like them. Their solution? Rent a giant Air BNB outside of Boone, NC, have their immediate family stay with them, and get married right on the property, followed by a family style dinner. It was intentional, full of meaning and those they held most dear.

3. Adventure Elopement

For Kelsey and Mark, choosing the NC Mountains to elope spoke to their adventurous spirits. They love hiking, exploring, traveling, and seeing new places/having new experiences together. Being active was a huge part of their story, so when it came time to plan their own elopement, they knew that it had to include this element of adventure. They chose to hike out to a local waterfall, exploring and having fun together as a perfect way to start their next chapter.

4. Campsite Elopement

When Amber was a little girl, she and her family used to travel up to Highlands, NC to camp during the summers until her mom passed away. When she got engaged, she knew she wanted the spirit of her mom present as they said I do in the very same campground frequented as a little girl. Her closest friends and family of about 25 people surrounded them in the mountains of NC as they said yes to forever.

5. NC Venue Elopement:

NC is home to an endless array of amazing venues. One of the reasons why I love this particular venue is because of the surrounding area. Highlands, NC is home to some of the most picturesque waterfalls I’ve ever seen. As you can see in these photos, this couple chose to elope in NC with a micro wedding and adventure out to some of the local waterfalls for photos following the ceremony. It was nothing short of breathtaking.
